Looking at the photos on my PC i was positively surpriced (i had the G10 before) - but then again it almost looks like there was noise reduction added to the photos in-camera. Please take a look at this photo: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66953883/IMG_0064.jpg that was just converted to jpeg in ACR. |

You must shoot RAW and process yourself. |

It doesn't look like there's a coating of peach fuzz and that's what bad noise reduction looks like to me. With photos that nice I'm tempted. Are they all coming out that nice or was this a pleasant exception? |

Having applied a little contrast and sharpening and a little noise reduction in the blue sky, i came to this result: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66953883/IMG_0064_2.jpg I am thrilled. And my wife will be extremely happy. She was sick and tired of me always carrying me 5D mk2 and the 70-200 f/2.8 around on vacations etc. Of course there are limitations with the G1X but i am sure that it will help me building my portfolio faster. I have only been shooting that one day (very nice weather with clear blue sky) so far, but most of the photos came out that nice. |
