PHOTO: Model release on self-portrait

I took this shot on my self and now I got this message:

Model signature date and witness signature date must match.

But is this required when it is a self-portrait? I have used the same model release for my self for years, and it have never been a problem until now.

Most likely, the Inspector overlooked that it was a self-portrait.

We suggest making it very obvious that it is a self-portrait release. No witness is required for self-portrait releases so it may actually help if you prepare a release that has NO witness signature on it, because in the process of inspecting the release, it becomes a habit for Inspectors to automatically compare those dates. Instead, leave the witness lines blank and mark prominently in large letters across the bottom of the release, in red ink, "Self-portrait - no witness required." This extra visual clue helps a LOT when we're inspecting release after release and will help you avoid Inspector errors like this.

I did as you told me, but I left the date fileds empty. Do I need to sign every modelrelease with the shot date when it´s a self-portrait? 

Nope, again, that should not have been kicked back. A single catch-all release for all your self-portraits is perfectly acceptable.

Did you make it obvious that it was a self-portrait release? I've noticed that some contributors go so far as to write "self-portrait" in all of the fields that do not need to be completed, such as shoot date, witness, etc. so that when the Inspector checks these fields, they cannot help but see that it is a self-portrait.

Again, I am sorry about that! Unfortunately I cannot simply overturn it since it hasn't actually been rejected. But please check your sitemail, I'll send you some additional instructions so we can get this one taken care of.

Honestly, I would make it larger still, all the way across the bottom of the release.

The issue this time may have been that your signatures are not accompanied by a date. We do still need the date the release was signed, even if it doesn't have to match the image's date.
