I happen to like my Fuji finepix 6900z (although a Canon is on the cards when the pennies allow) but in the meantime the one thing I can't do is get RAW images from it - the best I can get is TIFF at 6MP = 7 images on a 128mb card.
Will these tiff's be better than jpgs initially?
Fuji's typically have some pretty hefty compression going on when they save jpg images, so yeah, use Tiff whenever possible.
If you're just going to use an image for the web or email it doesn't make a difference, but for stock work or prints, try to use Tiff on that camera, then convert it to jpg using whatever image editor you have. Programs like Photoshop/Elements/Paint Shop pro offer much better compression choices than the Fuji cameras will do if you allow them to do it in-camera.
